The molded process. The mixture is dispensed into a closed mold and expands to fill the cavity — producing precise 3D parts with a denser outer skin, such as vehicle seats and contoured chair cushions.

Reading the Specification: Density and ILD

Two numbers every foam buyer must understand:

Density (kg/m³) — the foam's weight per cubic meter, written as a D-grade (D10 through D90). Density determines durability: the higher the grade, the longer the foam holds its shape under repeated load. Density is not a measure of firmness — a D40 foam can be made soft or firm.

ILD (Indentation Load Deflection) — the firmness measure: the force required to compress the foam by 25%. Written as an R-value (R40–R90 on our line). ILD sets the feel; density sets the lifespan.

Is Polyurethane Foam Safe and How Long Does It Last?

Lifespan. It depends on density and application. High-density foam (D50+) in commercial seating lasts 10–15 years; standard residential cushion foam (D32–D40) lasts 5–10 years.
